Myanmar chat rooms

There are now some burmese chat rooms on the internet. Some chat rooms are web based chat rooms. Examples of such chat rooms are shwenet, planet chat, bagan chat and xchat. There are now also some IRC chat rooms. They include yangoncity irc xchat, burmeseonline and alwan cafe. The connection parameters for these chat rooms are as follows.

For yangon city irc chat , the address is jobalert.mcc.com.mm, port 6667.

For Burmeseonline, the address is irc.burmeseonline.net, port is 443.

For alwan cafe, it is 443.mm-irc.net, port 443.

For those of you from inside Myanmar who connect to the burmese online and alwan cafe, you will need to configure the firewall.

IRC clients for you

You will need an IRC client to enter these IRC chats. You can download them from one of the following sites free of charge. The scoopscript is my favourite.

By far, the scoop script is the most popular and my favourite. You will need mIRC if you use scoopscript. ( It doesn't operate by itself). Both mIRC and ScoopScript are shareware so that they will ask you to buy their products before 30 days expire. After 30 days you are supposed to download the clients again and reinstall, but you can still use both of them even after 30 days expiry as they actually do not disable the products. (Thanks to the authors!). Anyway, if you could, my advise is to register the products.

Free downloads

If you are interested in free programs, why not visit the free download site www.download.com. It is the most popular download site with thousands of freewares, sharewares and adwares.
